With everyone home and stuffed, East Bay Parks has gotten creative! Forget the shopping or football, and join a "Work Off That Turkey Hike" this Friday morning.
We think it's worth driving over to Contra Costa and hiking at Las Trampas. You can join a park leader and other good-intentioned folks, for a hearty route - from 9am through 1pm.
Las Trampas is a beautiful spot! You will be able to hike through chemise chaparral and oak for breathtaking views and more. This is a vigorous hike, with lots of ups and downs, but everyone ages 7-plus should be able to enjoy the route.
Please remember to bring hiking shoes, water and snack to share. There's no fee or advanced registration, so this can be a last-minute inspiration - just get up to hike early.
More info: You can drive there by heading through the tunnel, and taking 24 to 680 South. Alternatively, head down 13 to 580 East to 680 North. Check out the park map here. If you have any questions, then please call (510) 544-3240.
