The Oakland History Room observes the 20th anniversary of this devastating fire with an exhibit that recalls the disaster, the response, and the community's efforts to heal and rebuild in its aftermath.

** Please join Oaklanders at the library, for a special anniversary reception on Thursday, September 15th, at 5:30pm. **

At the exhibit, you'll be able to view newspaper accounts, Oakland Fire Department reports, and other official documents, personal narratives of survivors, and before-and-after photographs of the burn area.

If you can't make the reception, then be sure to check out the exhibit itself. It's a sobering reminder of the Diablo Winds, which are due to arrive again. This exhibit runs through November 30th. Don't miss it!
