Don't want to fire up a grill? Celebrate a local Fourth of July at Chabot Space and Science, and let someone else do the heavy lifting this year.
On the menu? A full BBQ with the family. Ribs, chicken, portobello mushrooms, pasta salad, potato salad, corn on the cob, and dessert. Plus hot dogs and hamburgers for kids.
It's not free but BBQ prices are reasonable: $10/guest; $8/member and $7/kid for the celebration.
While there, you can also check out the new exhibit called Beyond Blastoff: Surviving in Space. You and your kids can "see real spacesuits, spacecraft, and astronaut food. Try out astronaut exercise gear and space tools, and picture yourself in a weightless environment."
Fees: The BBQ isn't free but prices are reasonable, at $10/guest; $8/member and $7/kid for the celebration. Admissions to the Center runs $14.95/adult and $10.95/kid (3-12 years).
Times: The Center is open from 10 am -10pm, while the BBQ runs from 12 noon - 6pm.
